Bob Celebrated

The long awaited 60th birthday celebration of the
reggae legend Robert (Bob) Nesta Marley officially kick started here
in Addis Ababa last Tuesday with a string of events.
The month long celebration runs with the main theme of “Africa Unite”
around which different events such as a music concert at Meskel
square, a three day symposium at the UN conference center, a fund
raising banquet at Sheraton Addis and an art and cultural exhibition
are taking place..

EAL nets 187.2 mln birr half year profit

The national carrier Ethiopian Airlines (EAL) announced at a press
conference that it has made over 2.145 billion birr in revenues within
half a year before auditing, out of which it has managed to net 187.2
million birr profit.

Two parallel roads to relieve traffic at Megenagna area
Construction costs 125 mln birr

In
addition to the 2.5 Km relief road construction in Megenagna area,
which is in progress and scheduled to be completed in two weeks time,
the city is set to see the construction of a parallel road, from
Megenagna through the British Embassy all the way linking it to
Sandford School. The Addis Ababa Road Authority (AARA) disclosed to
Capital that the cost is estimated at 105 million birr.

FIRA sets tight TIN registration target

Federal Inland Revenue Authority (FIRA) has set an aggressive
objective for the Tax Identification Number (TIN) registration of all
businesses through out the country. FIRA aims to register all business
entities in the country by the end of this Ethiopian year, despite the
half-year performance report released last week that shows the
authority is far behind the required objective.

Negasso to run for election

President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE), Dr.
Negasso Gidada, announced that he will run in the upcoming election as
a candidate for the House of Peoples’ Representatives.

ORBIS Int’l helps prevent blindness
