E-Commerce and Starting a Venture:

Old books teach a lot, so do older folks. The power of positive thinking when told by elderly people becomes real as the young draw a lot of lessons from it. But, the youth are destined to improve on it with a new mind-set.
The power of positive thinking was in vogue in the early fifties when I was a high school student as it is even fresher today. It was in those days that I had started to open my ears for the first time to the power of positive thinking. It demonstrates that one should not be defeated by anything; that one can have peace of mind, improved health, and a never-ceasing flow of energy. In short, it demonstrates that one’s life can be full of joy and satisfaction.
There are people that I have come to know in my own time that have applied a system of simple procedures that have brought them about the foregoing benefits in their lives. These assertions, which may appear extravagant, are based on faithful demonstrations in actual human experience.
The power of positive thinking flows from different perspectives. The origin of it could be anything. Faith in God, faith in business acumen, or faith in one’s own power of creativity. But for positive power of thinking, there should be traceable principles in life.
When positive thinking is perceived in terms of modern businesses, it takes us directly to the need of forming in our minds clear vision as to what one is intended to do. In general, it is this clear vision that sets down the traits of positive thinking. Positive thinking, in part, interlinks with creative-thinking. When the mind is set positive, creativity becomes a tenet within its domain.
E-commerce is one of such endeavors. Electronic commerce is steadily but increasingly becoming a reality in the Ethiopian market. Of course, e-commerce, as it is a modern technique, escapes intermediary market players by its power of direct link. It is being used by existing corporations in the different parts of the world as well as in Ethiopia, to extend their marketing and sales channels and to launch some new ventures as well. Small to medium-size companies are encouraged by the use of the internet to minimize marketing costs while reaching out to broader markets.
E-commerce, then, depends on on-line businesses. This approach, besides facing difficulties within its own domain, repeated system failure is a dominant feature, while failure of electric power could be altered by local generators, for those who accept this option, the internet component remains a serious matter. Of course, all efforts at higher levels should be made to contain these difficulties as much as humanly possible.
As specialists in the field advise, doing business on-line needs to be gvein due attention as it is new and a perpetually evolving technology. Decision has to be made whether the operations have to be managed within the company or outsource these operations to internet specialists. If it is an in-house undertaking like the modern banks, computer servers, routers, and other hardware and software as well as support services such as website information have to be maintained. If the choice is outsourcing the internet business, one can hire web-developers to design the web pages and upload them on the server maintained by the service provider. The company’s role will only be in such a case to regularly update the information on the web-pages.
The third option is the use of packages for e-commerce available from different soft ware companies. In all cases, however, it is said that the alternating operation choices depend on the size of the internet-related business.
Thus, the chances for e-commerce in Ethiopia are plenty and the opportunities high. Nonetheless, starting-up an e-commerce venture depends on positive thinking and on creative and critical decision-making paths of business development and marketing strategy. E-commerce offers the business man the opportunity to be very creative and innovative. It involves direct business-to-business and business-to-consumer operations and sales by fighting out the speculative intermediary agents.
