France, Ethiopia to set up joint commission

Mr. Bernard Kouchner, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of France, paid a working visit to Ethiopia on July 26th 2007.
The minister presented to AU Chairperson Prof. Alpha Oumar Konare a report on the efforts of France and the European Union to resolve the crisis in Darfur, and together looked for ways to strengthen the already close cooperation between France and the AU on this issue.

GITTO to build 50 floor tower in Addis

GITTO Construction Ethiopia Plc, which has its mother company in Italy, is discussing with the Addis Ababa Provisional Administration on building a 50 floor tower in Addis Ababa, General Manager of the company, Gabriele Diano told Capital.
According to Mr. Diano, Construzioni Generali Nigeria LTD, which entered the Ethiopian construction industry through GITTO Construction Ethiopia Plc, is planning to construct the building.

GTZ completes four condo buildings

The German Technical Cooperation International Service (GTZ IS) has handed over four new condominium buildings to the Addis Ababa Housing Development Project Office at a ceremony held at Lideta Milifoni site on July 28, 2007. The condominiums have been built in Lideta, Gerji, Yeka and Asko sites. Dr. Wubishet Berhanu, Addis Ababa City Manager, thanked GTZ and expressed his hope that at the end of these consecutive projects, the housing shortages in the capital would be greatly alleviated.
