BIG PICTURE
Reason for starting business: - As a young child ( age 9) I used to write the goods purchased on cowhide at Mahfud Amehayesus market place. I did not have the capital to work on what I like most, which is advertising. Later on Dr. Arshabeck( owner of the former Shewa Pharmacy) gave me 2000 birr. That was my start up capital. In a months time, it grew to 10 thousand birr.
Biggest plus of ownership:- I am not a rich man but I am wealthy by good reputation. The biggest plus of ownership is the respect and trust of the public.
DAILY ROUTINE
Most challenging task:- Making a call to solicit assistance to help the needy.
Source of inspiration :- Watching talk shows, especially when the topic of discussion is about reality.
Favorite task:- Providing free service to different local organizations. For instance, I frequently attend graduation ceremonies and opening ceremonies and address the attendants.
Conducting non-profitable activities for development activities. Such as the recent telethon program, which was set up to assist those that are displaced by the 2006 floods in different parts of Ethiopia. The telethon for the Wollo and the south Ethiopia famine and others.
I also like writing plays, stage performances, acting and program presentations.
DREAMS
Key goal yet to achieve:- With the help of God, I believe I have reached the top of the success ladder. But my biggest ambition is to be the president of Ethiopia. I want to teach the young generation about what has been in times of yore. Customs and traditions seem to be getting lost. I feel an identity crisis prevails among the young generation . This is because we failed to teach them about heritage. Therefore, I want to change that attitude and help the young generation to be aware of their Ethiopian identity.
Five years plan:- To engage in charity work and to reach out to my fellow citizens in the countryside.
First choice for new career or venture:-
I grew up wishing to be a pilot or a lawyer. If I have to make a choice now, I prefer to be a legal representative for some woreda.
PERSONALS
Most interested in meeting:- I have met many members of royal families and even kings through out the world. Most of all, I would be interested in meeting Nelson Mandela. I admire him because he is a patriot and a strong son of Africa.
Most admired entrepreneur:- Ato Bizuayehu Tadele, East African Holdings Chairman and Managing Director. Ato Sammuel Tafese, Sunshine Construction and Ato Gebereyesus Egata, Owner of Gift Trading Company.
Most favourite Film: - I like documentary films. These days, I enjoy watching Amharic movies written and performed by Ethiopians. I have seen a good beginning and quality in Amharic movies. I also admire Ethiopian playwrites like Ayaleneh Mulatu.
Favorite pastime:- Cocktails and meetings. Moreover, I like to go outside the capital to admire nature.
Favorite destination:- I have been all over the world. I have been to almost 42 countries. Still, there is no place like Ethiopia. My second choice will be the USA because it is a nation of plenty. All people from different walks of life go there and make a difference in their lives.
Favorite automobile:- Mercedes Benz.
