BIG PICTURE

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
B.A in Public Administration.
FIRST CHOICE OF CAREER:
USAID officer and public enterprise manager in government organization.
REASONS FOR STARTING A BUSINESS:
I have always liked traveling and I wanted to encourage others to travel too, so when I decided to establish my own business and quit my government job, I chose the tour and travel sector since it is something I enjoy doing myself.
FAVORITE FILM:
TV series like Oprah and Dr. Phil and also comedies like the Cosby show.
FAVORITE PASTIME:
Traveling
FAVORITE AUTOMOBILE:
Toyota Land Cruiser.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DESTINATION:
Thailand and China

Biggest business strength:
We always work according to the suggestions and comments of our clients. That is one of our strengths that helps us to update the skills of our staff. The other is that we have established a good reputation for years which results in permanent clients
Biggest weakness:
Ethiopia is not a country ready for tourism, starting from the airlines to the places our tourists stay and visit, there are many discomforting situations which should be improved. Another factor that cost us our clients is the unfair competition from ordinary brokers who compete with IATA members like us.
biggest risk:
The business I am in is risky all around . The contracts we sign are liable to change and sometimes lead to total loss so there is a risk but we always try to take a calculated chance.
Most challenging task:
The business is all around rewarding; for both the business community and for the country’s image, so protection should be given to the travel and tour companies, from unlawful competition.
Favorite task:
When we see a client go abroad, participate in an exhibition which finally gets a business partner from aboard, that’s where we see the fruits of our work; The recent program we launched that takes patients who can’t get proper medical treatment here in Ethiopia also gives me great satisfaction as I see them in good health.
Smartest move:
I started the business by launching an exhibition without any experience but with commitment and now after all these years, we have clients that were on the first exhibition we organized.
Future plan:
With the growing economy we hope to improve all our services since our sector is related with services like hotels and transportation which are improving in relation with the millennium celebrations.
