The Addis Credit and Saving Institute said it has loaned more than a billion birr to more than 78 customers as part of its target in the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP). Institute Deputy Managing Director, Shebir Berhanu, told ENA that the institute has been striving to support Micro and Small Enterprises. He said the institute is working to reach a lending capacity of 1.2 billion birr and to solicit 80 percent of savings for loan service. Currently, the institute is lending up to one million birr and focusing on satisfying customers through efficient service. He said the institute, which has 21 branch offices, is striving to expand its accessibility using modern technology. The deputy head said the institute is assisting government efforts towards creating jobs. To this end, the institute has attached prime importance to potential sectors for job creation that include construction, urban agriculture, trade and other sectors. The deputy head said the institute has registered encouraging results since the implementation of the GTP.
