Ethiopia, South Sudan agree to work jointly on peace, security issues PDF Print E-mail

Senior army officers of Ethiopia and South Sudan have signed an agreement to work together on issues related to ensuring peace and security along their common border.
The Ethiopian delegation head Brig. General Zewdu Belay and South Sudanese delegation leader Major General Gabriel Hock signed the agreement here following consultations. Gambella Regional state Chief, Umed Ubong, on the occasion stressed the need for the security forces of Ethiopia and South Sudan to work jointly to maximize the benefits of the people from both countries by maintaining reliable peace and security along the common border and enabling them to further boost people-to-people ties and economic cooperation between the two countries.
The chief said that successful activities have been carried out to extradite wanted criminals and anti-peace elements between the two countries. He also stressed the need for further intensifying such activities and enhancing efforts to maximize the benefits of the peoples of the two countries.
