Nanodas Trade and Industry P.L.C is a company that produces cartridges in Ethiopia. Its factory is located in the Oromia special zone on a 5,000 square meter area and has the capacity to produce 500 cartridges per day.
“Our products are made according to international standards and our company has different certifications testifying to that fact,” said Tewodros Amiga, Marketing Manager at Nanodas.
Counterfeit print cartridges have flooded the market in Ethiopia and it has been a subject of contention and many grievances. The company states that the most common type of failure and the highest percentage of malfunctions occur when using improperly refilled toner cartridges; these cartridges have over 40percent failure rate and can seriously damage printers and other machines.
Nanodas states that it can produce 156,500 printer, photocopy and fax toner cartridges and 626,000 thermal papers per annum, which enables to meet the growing market demands for these products. It also states that it produces cartridges that have zero-risk failure rates and is compatible with almost all popular brands like HP and Canon.
The company, which was established in 2010 by a group of local investors, has more than 80 employees.
“We have strict quality control for all processes, products and services. Each toner cartridge and thermal paper product is produced under strict quality control,” states Tewodros. The company maintains that every manufacturing process, from  raw  materials selection to final testing, is well controlled and ensures that the toner cartridges and thermal papers it produces performs quite well when it comes to color, quality and consistency.
“The fact that we are able to produce this product in Ethiopia and in a factory owned by Ethiopians and not a foreign company is something we are really proud of,” said Tewodros.
Currently, the company has more than 67,000 various kinds of printer, photocopy and fax toner cartridges in stock and expects to double that number soon, in line with market demands.
