Addis Ababa: A dynamic City PDF Print E-mail

Addis Ababa, the capital of Africa, is a buzzing hub of economic, social and political activity and home to notable international offices.

The diversity of its people is reflected in the many churches, mosques and museums, including the Ethiopian National Museum which just received this past week the 3.2 million years old fossilized skeleton of Lucy that was on a five-year long journey in the USA. Addis Ababa often referred as ‘the political capital of Africa’ has gone through a relatively rapid transformation since it was established just over a century ago, to become one of the major cities in Africa. In its preparation for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the African Union, the 65th anniversary of the French school, Lycee Guebre Mariam and the 67th anniversary of the Ethiopian Airlines, the New Spirit of Africa, just to mention a few milestones, Addis Ababa is buzzing with activities. Roads and buildings construction has surged in an unprecedented level quickly followed by the 34km Light Rail Transit (LRT) installation work that is underway, rendering the city of Addis Ababa, one that is on a continuous face lift, a dynamic city that changes constantly.
