Election 2010

IT IS ALL OVER
By Kirubel Tadesse

The election season is officially over.
The months’ long preparation and operation to carry out every agenda item of the electoral calendar we published when this column first started has all been executed by a leadership of the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE).
The final rather low key event happened last Monday when NEBE’s chairman Professor Merga Bekana announced the final results of the concluded fourth national and regional elections.
There was no surprise or major change from the announced provisional results except one call, which later proved to be both controversial and funny at the same time. Following NEBE’s announcement of the results in the Benishangul Gumuz regional council, the opposition All Ethiopian Unity Organization (AEUO) said it doesn’t know of the candidate NEBE said is AEUO’s and own a seat.
