ICT exhibition around regions

The first Ethio-ICT and other technologies exhibition, bazaar and symposium is going to be held from February 20 to April 10 in six regional states of the country.
Dawit Tadesse General Manager of New Line Promotion and Advertising Company told Capital that the exhibition will be held in Bahir Dar, Mekelle and Gondar during the first phase and Dire Dawa, Adama and Awassa will host the exhibition during the second phase.
According to the organizers of the exhibition and bazaar, the event will last 28 days without any interruption during the tour.  
The Ethiopian Information Communication Technology Development Agency (EICTDA) is the major sponsor of this event which strives to largely disseminate technological information to the public.
New Line is a private company engaged in delivering promotional, event management, organizing exhibition and conferences services to different range of clients. According to the manager, this event is among other events successfully organized and conducted by his company over the past few years.
“The last year international ICT exhibition which was conducted at Addis Ababa exhibition center can be mentioned as a show case,” Dawit told Capital.
He further noted that ICT plays a significant role in promoting growth and reducing poverty adding, “It could be a backbone to achieve an accelerated and sustained development and as a means to end poverty.”
According to the organizer, the overall objective of this regional exhibition is to create awareness to the society at large about the current status of ICT and its development in promoting new technological innovations and encouraging the community to use ICT through initiating and strengthening competition and relation among ICT professionals. The exhibition is expected to attract over 1.5 million visitors who live in the stated regional cities. It is also expected to have 200 representatives and direct exhibitors during the tour to showcase their products and services.
The organizers have also planned to distribute about 3,000 free tickets for visitors in each regional state to students and other members of the society to encourage and give them a chance to visit and learn from the exhibition. Dawit said that, around 15,000 first time internet users will have an e-mail account during the touring.
