EHRC marks eventful Human Rights celebration across December

This year’s International Human Rights Day festival under the theme of ‘human dignity freedom and justice for all’ has been celebrated in conjunction with the second annual Human Rights Film Festival organized by the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) from December 9 across five cities with the curtains of the celebration closing on December 27, 2022 in an event held in Addis Ababa.
Fifteen both old and new films were premiered in Adama, Addis Ababa, Bahir Dar, Hawassa and Jigjiga on the subject of human right in collaboration with governmental and non-governmental institutions working on human rights, representatives of civil society organizations, various media professionals
Daniel Bekele, Chief Commissioner of EHRC during the closing event of the festival highlighted that the year’s theme brought everyone to page with the basics of human rights, citing, “Human rights institutions established relations with the art and such festivals are necessary to remind us to be careful about the messages conveyed by art and as well as the messages we convey to other people who are not experts.”
The Human Rights Film Festival is said to return for the third round at the same time next year.
