Baherdar stadium cleared for international club competitions

Ethiopian Sport news sources announced Wednesday that Baherdar international stadium is cleared to host African Champions League and Confederation Cup matches. According to these sources the uplifting of the two years suspension means that Kidus Giorgis and Baherdar Ketema are to host their adversaries at a local venue.
2022/23 Ethiopian Premier League back-to-back champions Kidus Giorgis and runners-up Baherdar Ketema are set to represent the East-African nation in the coveted African Champions League and Confederation Cup of Africa fixtures respectively.
Despite moving nearly 500KM from their base Addis Ababa stadium it is still a huge advantage for champions Kidus Giorgis hosting their adversaries at Baherdar international stadium. But for Baherdar Ketema it is totally something great for they will have their first ever international fixtures at their very ground where more than forty thousand home supporters are expected to attend.
Ethiopian champion Kidus Giorgis travels to Zanzibar for its first leg encounter against KMKM on 18th of August while the return leg homematch to take place at Baherdar International stadium a week later. Famous for their Yellow shirt, Kidus Giorgis is likely to progress to the next stage for its encounter. KMKM is little known at international stages.
Confederation Cup preliminary rounds kick off at the third week of September and the return leg fixtures take place a week later. Despite being debutant to international matches, Baherdar Ketema popularly known as the “Blue Waves” are still in favor of progressing to the next round for the vociferous home supporters are too strong to handle. Baherdar hosts the first leg on 20th August with their adversary Azam from Tanzania.
