Ethio Telecom partners with EagleLion to Launch Ethiopia’s first online cinema

Ethio Telecom has signed an agreement with EagleLion System Technology, a company renowned for its technological advancements, to develop Ethiopia’s first online cinema platform.

Ethio Telecom announced that it is implementing various digital systems to modernize lifestyles, and this new initiative will revolutionize the entertainment sector. Movie enthusiasts will soon be able to watch films from around the world on their mobile phones, tablets, smart TVs, and computers.

EagleLion System Technology aims to modernize the movie rental experience in Ethiopia by leveraging technology to offer films on a rental basis for limited days. The new system, branded as TeleTV, will allow users to rent movies, providing a contemporary twist to the traditional movie rental model. Viewers can register by entering their first name, phone number, and address, and they can rent a movie, leave reviews, rate films, and even gift movies to others.

Users can make payments via Telebirr, Ethio Telecom’s mobile payment service. For those outside the country, payments can be made using Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

The film production industry in Ethiopia generates over five million jobs annually, and it is estimated that each film garners around one million views on television. The introduction of this online cinema platform is expected to further boost the sector by providing greater accessibility and convenience for viewers.
