Provision of Inland (Local) Freight Transport Services to WFP Ethiopia

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Ethiopia is seeking qualified Inland/Local Freight Transport Operators to present their Expressions of Interests (EOI) for the provision of Inland (Local) Freight Transport Services within the boundaries of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, including the following active regions: Afar, Amhara, Oromia, Somali and Tigray regions.
A. INLAND/LOCAL TRANSPORT SERVICE
1. Objective
This invitation for expression of interest aims to identify qualified local companies for the provision of Inland Transport Services in Ethiopia. The shortlisted companies will be invited to participate in a bidding process to provide Inland (Local) Freight Transport services. Based on the results of the competitive bidding process, WFP may conclude a contract with one or more company(ies) for the provision of the services.
The cargo to be transported consists of food and non-food items, as required.

Inland/Local Freight Transport services for the transportation of food and non-food items.
- EOI Process
WFP seeks to shortlist companies/organizations with demonstrable technical and financial capabilities, who will be invited to participate in the bidding process. After the deadline, WFP will evaluate all submitted EOIs, and only successful participants will be notified by email.
B. SUBMISSION OF THE EOI
All documents should be presented in English and in an orderly manner as per the guidelines below.
- Documents to be submitted:
The expression of interest must include the following documentation:
- Company’s confirmation in writing of their interest (application) to join WFP database or shortlist of companies for the requested services, clearly stipulating the preferred areas/origins to operate.
- Renewed Trade Registrations and Business License
- Renewed Transport Operating License from Ministry of Transport and Logistics including accredited list of trucks under your company.
- Taxpayer Registration Certificate.
- Updated company profile information: including contact details, (e-mail address is mandatory, website, address/physical location, telephone, fax numbers) and experience in the freight transport operation.
- Independently Audited Financial Statement, at least for two (2) years, accompanied by a letter of sound accounts transactions from the company’s bank.
- Recommendation letters from three (3) credible clients and other relevant documents required to operate in Inland /Local freight transport operation.
Non-provision of the required information may result in exclusion of the company from further consideration.

This expression of interest does not constitute a solicitation. WFP reserves the right to change or cancel the requirements at any time during the EOI. WFP also reserves the right to disregard companies from further consideration if the company is not deemed to conform to the above conditions. Thus, submitting a reply to this EOI does not automatically guarantee that the company-expressing interest will be considered for receipt of the solicitation if-and-when issued.
