The Good Business Ethiopia (TGB) has launched its first business development program for Ethiopian impact startups and small business enterprises (SMEs). Following the call up made in March 2021, TBG hosts now a two days bootcamp for these business groups.
    The program Design Market Success‘aimes at supporting the country’s fashion and textile sectors. In parallel with the boot camp, TBG runs an idea competition aims at providing seed-funding to five sustainable businesses responding to the COVID-19 pandemic with innovative concepts. Applications for the competition and registration for the event are no open on the TGB website. Application for the competition is open until May 10, 2021.
    Many start-ups and SME enterprises are engaged in the textile industry which is one of the most important economic sectors in Ethiopia. However, theses start ups and SMEs lack skills of getting access of international markets and expoiting the huge potential of the target market. The focus of ‘Design Market Access’ program is to show these businesses how to get better access to internatinal markets. The fashion bootcamp and idea competition organised by The Good Business (TGB) aims at providing Ethiopian impact start-ups and SMEs with new strategic approaches through knowledge transfer and exchange on how they can optimise their production, increase their reach, boost their impact and create jobs along their supply chain even at times of a pandemic.
    Two days of expert know how
    The ‘Design Market Success’ Fashion Bootcamp takes place on 19th and 20th May 2021. The programme is primarily aimed at start-ups and SMEs in the fashion industry, but is also open to companies or players along the entire supply chain. The keynotes, discussions and panel talks with local and international experts from the various industry segments will focus on topics such as the potential of sustainable businesses, the enormous opportunities of cooperative production, the optimization of production and logistics, marketing strategies and e-commerce. Participation via Zoom is free of charge. Yet, pre-registration is indispensable as the number of participants is limited.
    The lectures and talks will be streamed or published afterwards. The final programme will be published on the TGB website.
    Best Ideas will be awarded 5,000 euros to implement their ideas
    The ‘Design Market Success’ idea competition is open to all sustainably oriented Ethiopian startups and SMEs that engaged in the fashion, textile or design sector.
    The competition will reward 5 business ideas and concepts that help to secure and expand jobs in their company or along the supply chain – even in times of the COVID-19 pan- demic.
    The Good Business (TGB) is an initiative to foster sustainably oriented start-ups and SMEs in Ethiopia. With its programmes and actions, TGB supports the development and implementation of growth concepts and expansion strategies through knowledge transfer, mentoring, start-up financing and investment options. TGB is supported by the Special Initiative on Training and Job Creation of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The Special Initiative, which also operates under the brandInvest for Jobs, is implemented among others by the Deutschen Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. TGB is realized by the die NOAH Foundation in cooperation with iceaddis and ESCP Business School.
